PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti — A magnitude 7.6 earthquake struck Haiti on Saturday morning, seismologists said, shaking the country.
The United States Geological Survey said the quake struck five miles from the town of Petit Trou de Nippes in the western part of the country, about 80 miles west of Port-au-Prince. Seismologists said it had a depth of seven miles.
There were no immediate reports of damage or fatalities.
The European-Mediterranean Seismological Center also reported a quake in the region, saying it was magnitude 7.6.
The U.S. Tsunami Warning System said there was no tsunami warning after the quake.
Haiti was the scene of a devastating earthquake in 2010 that killed tens of thousands of people.
