The Odisha government will continue to patronize the Indian hockey team for the next 10 years. This announcement was made by the government on Tuesday. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced this at a function organized in honor of the members of the men’s and women’s hockey teams who returned after performing brilliantly in the Tokyo Olympics.
According to a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office, ‘Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday felicitated the Indian national hockey teams who created history by performing brilliantly in the Tokyo Olympics in a ceremony along with the Olympic hockey heroes. Recognizing their achievement and their potential to become the top team in the world, the Chief Minister announced that Odisha would continue to sponsor Indian hockey teams for the next 10 years.
According to the statement, the Chief Minister felicitated Captain Rani Rampal and the women’s team and felicitated Captain Manpreet Singh and the men’s team for winning a bronze medal which was no less than a gold for India. Each player was awarded Rs 10 lakh and each support staff was awarded Rs 5 lakh by the Chief Minister. As a token of respect and appreciation, each team presented a framed jersey signed by the players to the Chief Minister.
