New Delhi. The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has refused to amend its order canceling the registration of 10-year-old diesel vehicles in Delhi-NCR.

A bench headed by NGT Chairperson Adarsh ​​Kumar Goel said the appeal against its order has already been dismissed by the Supreme Court. The Bench said, “As stated in the order dated 18th July, 2016, the appeal against the order dated 7th April, 2015 not to allow plying of diesel vehicles older than 10 years on the roads of Delhi-NCR shall be entertained by the Supreme Court. had rejected.”

It said, “In these circumstances, the amendment requested would amount to review. An order against which an appeal has already been dismissed cannot be allowed to be reviewed. The petitions are dismissed.”

Hearing on the petition of Haryana Progressive Schools Conference
The tribunal passed this order during the hearing of a petition filed by ‘Haryana Progressive Schools Conference’, an association of schools affiliated to CBSE and ICSE in the state of Haryana, seeking amendment in the orders of the NGT. It was requested in the petition that the period of Kovid-19 should not be included in the calculation of the period of 10 years.

Earlier, the NGT had refused to lift the ban on such vehicles in Delhi-NCR and said that emissions from diesel vehicles are the cause of cancer.

One new diesel car equal to 24 petrol and 84 new CNG cars
The NGT said that the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises has failed to prove that the use of 10-year-old diesel vehicles will not be injurious to the health of the people. He said that a report by the Pollution Monitoring Body states that one new diesel car is equivalent to 24 petrol and 84 new CNG cars.

In the year 2015, the NGT had imposed a ban on old diesel vehicles.
It is noteworthy that on April 7, 2015, the NGT had banned all diesel vehicles older than 10 years from plying on the roads of Delhi-NCR. Later, on July 18 and 20, 2016, it ordered the cancellation of registration of 15 to 10 years old diesel vehicles in the national capital in a phased manner.
