In the case of rape and murder of a minor girl in Delhi, there is a controversy over the sharing of photo on Twitter by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi with her family. Twitter removed this post and also blocked Rahul Gandhi’s account, but this post has not been removed on Facebook and Instagram. In this regard, the chairman of the National Commission for Child Rights, Priyank Kanongoo, has sent a notice to Facebook and Instagram.
National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) Chairman Priyank Kanungo said that we had sent a notice to Twitter and Facebook/Instagram on 10th. We had sent the notice under section 23 of the POCSO Act. We had written that Rahul Gandhi revealed the identity of the minor rape victim’s family which is a violation of the Act. Twitter told the court that they have removed the post and taken action.
He said that Facebook/Instagram did not tell us that they had not removed the post. Still posted on Facebook/Instagram. We have given notice and asked why this post has not been removed. We have asked the heads of Facebook and Instagram to appear and clean up online.
