Through the 127th Constitutional Amendment Bill, the states got the right to make OBC list according to their area. The bill was passed in the Lok Sabha with a two-thirds majority. During the division of votes on this Constitution Amendment Bill in the lower house, 385 votes were cast in favor and no votes were cast in opposition.
According to the news agency language, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Dr. Virendra Kumar, while replying to the discussion on the ‘Constitution (127th Amendment) Bill, 2021’ related to the Other Backward Classes, said that all in favor of this constitutional amendment in the House. The support received from the MPs of the parties is welcome. He said that everyone has expressed the same view that this bill is going to serve the interests of OBCs and with this each state will be able to take decisions with respect to OBC castes.
