Mumbai: Afghanistan is in the headlines these days. When Taliban fighters entered the Afghan capital Kabul on Sunday and captured Rashtrapati Bhavan, it became a topic of discussion around the world. People are fleeing from Afghanistan for their lives. The kind of situation that has become in Kabul today, Kabir Khan’s film ‘Kabul Express’ is missing. Indian film maker Kabir Khan made his debut in the industry as a director in the year 2006 with this film. Born in Hyderabad, Kabir was educated in Delhi itself. Before making films, Kabir used to make documentary films. When Kabir first decided to make a film, no one was ready to produce his film.
Kabir Khan had the story of the film ‘Kabul Express’ ready, but he was not getting any producer. On Karan Johar’s famous show Koffee with Karan, Kabir had told that ‘he had a lot of difficulty in finding a producer for the film. Kabir says that ‘I came from Delhi and used to make documentaries. My friends also advised me not to tell anyone that he is a documentary filmmaker. Kabir Khan told that the producers loved his story and were not ready to invest any money but told it well. He said that it was good luck that he got Aditya Chopra and gave him a chance.
Kabir Khan had told that Aditya Chopra was aware of the work done by Kabir Khan regarding Afghanistan, had seen the documentary I made on Afghanistan. He liked my passion and the script of the film. I already signed John Abraham and Arshad Warsi in the lead role of the film. When I signed him, Aditya was not in the scene at that time. Then the shooting of the film started which was quite frightening.
Let us tell you that Kabir Khan had told his power from his first film ‘Kabul Express’. The film was well liked. Kabir Khan received the Indira Gandhi Best Debut Director Award. After this, the film ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ and ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ made by Kabir broke all the records of success.
