The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) accounts for 76% of the electoral bonds sold in the financial year 2019-20. This has been revealed by the data obtained by NayaTez from the Election Commission. Altogether, electoral bonds worth ₹3,355 crore were sold in the year 2019-20, taking the BJP’s income to ₹2,555 crore. This is 75 percent more than the previous year. Last year, the party had received Rs 1,450 crore through electoral bonds. On the other hand, the collection of BJP’s main political rival Congress declined by 17% in the same period. In the year 2018-19, the Congress got ₹ 383 crore from electoral bonds but in the year 2019-20 it got ₹ 318 crore – total 9 per cent of electoral bonds were found.
