The Ganesh temple, which was damaged by mob vandalism in Pakistan in the past, has been handed back to the Hindu community after repair. Soon the worship will start again in the temple.
New Delhi. A demolished Ganesh temple in Pakistan’s Punjab province has been handed back to the Hindu community after repairs. At the same time, 90 suspects involved in the attack have been arrested so far for vandalizing the temple. A senior Pakistani official has given information in this regard. District administrator Khurram Shahzad said local Hindus would soon resume worship at the temple.

In fact, a Ganesh temple was attacked by a mob on August 4 in Bhong town of Rahim Yar Khan district of the province, about 590 km from Lahore. During this the temple was arson and ruined. The miscreants set fire to the temple and vandalized the idols. According to the information, in the past, the court had released an eight-year-old Hindu child, expressing displeasure over which people targeted the Hindu temple. The child was accused of allegedly urinating in the madrasa. The child was later arrested.

In the past, the Pakistani Supreme Court had reprimanded the police officers for their failure to protect the temple. After this, the police who came into action, have taken this action in the matter. Chief Justice of Pakistan Gulzar Ahmed had said in the case that the incident of vandalism in the temple is shameful for the country. Police is acting like a mute spectator, due to which the image of the country is getting tarnished at the international level. Along with this, the court had also ordered the repair of the temple at the earliest.
Court reprimand and the effect of international pressure
Due to the rebuke from the court and the condemnation of Pakistan by other countries including India, the police showed activeness and arrested 50 accused in a few hours on 8 August. While more than 150 suspects were booked. At the same time, the police have arrested 90 suspects so far on the basis of the viral video related to the incident. Along with this, the temple has been repaired and handed it back to the Hindus.
