The Special Cell of Delhi Police has arrested two notorious smugglers supplying illegal arms. Both had a reward of Rs 1 lakh and they have been arrested earlier in 30 cases of arms smuggling. According to DCP Pramod Kushwaha of Special Cell, the names of the accused are Khilafat Ali Ali and Tanman Singh.
Both the arrested persons were wanted in a case of MCOCA registered by the Special Cell against the members of illegal arms syndicate. Both have been found involved in more than 30 cases of illegal arms smuggling in UP and MP.
A case was registered against both the accused in Delhi. The team had gone to Kithor to capture Khilafat Ali at around 6.30 pm on the evening of last August. He was arrested and brought to Delhi. During the police remand, Khilafat Ali was taken to Madhya Pradesh for the investigation of the case and the arrest of his associates. Tanman Singh was arrested from Sendhwa’s sub-jail on 7 August on the basis of information provided by Khilafat Ali. He was brought to Delhi and produced in MCOCA court.
Tanman Singh and his syndicate members have supplied more than 1000 weapons in Delhi NCR during the last 10 years. Efforts are on to arrest the rest of the members of this illegal arms syndicate.
