A Book to Inspire in the Kitchen

#Book #Inspire #Kitchen

Through a series of profiles, reminiscences, essays, interviews and recipes, “Why We Cook” explores many facets of women in the world of food. More than 100 chefs, writers, entrepreneurs, farmers, wine experts and educators contributed to this lively book. The bright illustrations are by the author, Lindsay Gardner, who seeks to understand exactly why she turned to the kitchen; she thought others could address that question, too. Reem Assil, Amanda Cohen, Joyce Goldstein, Christine Ha, Deborah Madison, Jen Pelka, Ruth Reichl, Jordan Salcito and Bonnie Tsui are among the women whose opinions appear. It’s a book to browse, as I’ve been doing over the past few months.

“Why We Cook: Women on Food, Identity, and Connection” by Lindsay Gardner (Workman, $24.95).
